The Starbucks Guy

The guy who served me in Starbucks yesterday looked totally delicious.

I was at the counter trying to choose a cake to go with my grande capuccino, but what I really wanted was him on a plate.

About 23, short dark hair, beautiful build, very male, two star tatoos just visible on his neck.

To add to it all, he was polite and attentive, and held eye contact with me all the time he was speaking, suggesting what I might like to try. I don't think he knew, at that point, what I would really like to try (him), but by the time I had paid and he had directed me to the end of the counter to wait for my drink, I knew that he knew. I could feel it showing on my face, and could tell he had seen it.

Nearly 20 years younger than me, but he was watching me as I returned to my seat, where my friend Tasha was waiting.

For the hour we stayed in there, I couldn't really concentrate on what she was saying. I was just watching him. Every so often, as he was clearing a table nearby, his head would turn, and his eyes would meet mine, then he'd look away again. He looked slightly nervous - baffled by it - yet definitely interested. At one point he went to take a break, and sat at an outside table to have a cigarette. I turned myself in my seat so I could see him.

I couldn't resist letting Tasha in on it, and asking what she thought of him. Her first comment was that I am old enough to be his mother, which was true. The second was that although young, he looked as though he had already seen and experienced life, which was also true and one of the things that appealed to me about him. He had a handsome face - but the face of a boxer, a bit like Amir Khan perhaps, and it looked like under his shirt he could have the physique of a boxer too.

It was all very strange and new, but I felt elated by it. We had to leave quickly in the end - time to go - but he is still there in my mind. It's not Starbucks in my town, but a neighbouring town. I usually only go there once a month or so. Dunno if it's a stupid idea or not, but I am thinking of going back there next week to watch him again.

Now why would that be a stupid idea? Because your friend's first response was critical?

Life is passionate for those who choose to enjoy the throbbing pulse of it in the world.

Hi rogue, I wasn't too worried by Tasha's response - she's open minded and will accept me whatever. She was just surprised, I think, seeing a different side of me that day to what she'd seen before.

I think it was a lack of confidence that made me think it was a stupid idea - but anyway, I am now taking the plunge and am definitely going to go back there next week, probably on Wednesday :-)
